Cause Overview:
Unchained Fashion is a Columbus based nonprofit organization that utilizes artistic expression through fashion and poetry to educate people about the dark issue of human trafficking. Unchained provides a holistic approach to ending the cycle by raising awareness in communities, preventing recruitment among youth in schools, and working towards the restoration of survivors through the Unchained Fashion Show experience. Unchained brings the fashion show to middle and high schools, universities, businesses and communities with the purpose of raising awareness, preventing recruitment, and igniting youth abolitionists to change culture and end human trafficking.
How I Helped:
I helped plan, promote, and participate as a model in the September 2017 Unchained Fashion Show at the One Church Fearless Women's Conference. Proceeds for this particular show helped benefit Out of Darkness, a campaign raising funds to build safe housing for human trafficking survivors, in addition to honoring Pamela Pilkington as the 2017 Unchained Fashion Survivor's Scholarship prize.
